Zokusho: Shoot The Messenger–Page 70
Joseph sees that Meek’s not gonna just let this one go. Best to rip the band-aid off quickly, then…
Since I’m not certain of my internet situation this weekend as I travel to Baltimore for Otakon, I’ll upload Friday’s page before I head out on Thursday. Monday’s page might be later than usual, but it’ll still be up on Monday at some time.
It was named the Black Rock. Not the Ebony Gem, the Doomstone, the Devil’s Heart or the Obviously Eville McGuffin. Not even the Blackrock. Just the Black Rock. Unless the original name was lost for some reason… Did any of the researchers survive it’s mishandling, I wonder. And where did it come from? All very interesting questions.
I considered other names similar to what you suggested, but when it came down to it, there was something about the dirty simplicity of calling it the Black Rock that really spoke to me. There’s not a lot of background information on it (it’s assumed that it was somehow created by the researchers that used it, though this can’t be confirmed as all the scientists/mages involved and their lab were destroyed right as the first fiend invasion began).
And what were they researching? Were they looking into linking the human body to the Astral Plane in order to unlock the clerical abilities, by any chance?
I love the panel of Joseph’s face before he starts his explanation. It is the one that considers not saying anything and walking away or saying something and get it over with.
Something in Meek made up his mid to say something to get it over with.
